The Silent Monster we are facing !

Helloooo. How is your day going?  Just feeling that your brain is not braining today? Yeah we all have those moments. So take a pause. Let’s talk about something most people struggle with but rarely admit. STAGE FEAR.

Have you ever been so scared thinking of speaking in front of other people? Do you hesitate to share your thoughts in meetings? Or maybe do you feel shy about starting a conversion with strangers? If yes, don’t worry, you are not alone. Nearly 75% of the population is having this kind of fear. Some may show it openly. Others hide it behind phrases like “ I don’t like attention”, “I am just comfortable being like this”, “I prefer listening”. But let me ask you, have you ever thought about why you have this fear? I guess the first answer that comes to your mind will be “What will others think of me”.

“What if I say something stupid?”
“What will people think of me if I mess up?”

“What if they don’t like me to join their group?”

“What if they laugh?”

All these questions just pop into our mind, make us nervous and close doors before even we try to open them.

But ... .How Do You Change It? Any ideas ?

Some people say. “ I am happy the way I am, I don’t want to change”. But are you really happy? Or are you just telling yourself to stay in your comfort zone? Let’s be honest here. Ok now give me some ideas to break out this fear. Is the solution “ Become confident, Present Confidently”. To jump on to a stage and just do it. If you could do that then “hats off to you”. You are not having any stage fear. But most of us need a bit more time and bit more support.

A real story from my college days….

Back in college, my professor asked me to take a session on motivation. He said I can take any topic, even something I wrote. But still I was too scared. The night before the session I begged my friend to sit with me and listen to my speech again and again. I practiced so many times. But it wasn’t coming right. I kept forgetting, getting nervous and freezing up. Honestly it felt hopeless.
But then I told myself:
“Whatever happens, I will face it. I am doing it anyway.”

And guess what? The next day, I stood up in front, spoke confidently, and everything just flowed. No panic, no blank outs. Nothing.
That moment taught  me a huge lesson “ IT IS ALL ABOUT MAKING UP YOUR MIND”.

Nobody is perfect. Maybe the other person will be having little more experience but they were once in the exact same place as you. They just took the first step. Then the next. Then next. And it goes. So they will understand you even if you make a mistake. They won't judge you. They know you and they are there to support you.

So what will you do now?

Try speaking up in small meetings. Share your thoughts confidently in your friends group or people who you believe that they won’t judge you. And most importantly. Shift your mindset from “what if it goes wrong” to “what if it goes great”.

Go ahead. Be confident. I believe in you. You have got everything and yes you will do it. If you have ever overcome stage fear or taken the first steps now. Feel free to share your story in the comments. I am really excited to hear it from you. Keep going and don’t forget to keep your beautiful smile on your beautiful face. Have a beautiful and confident day.

  2. Loved the message. You are right, the first step outside your comfort zone is always the hardest. I like the idea of making up your mind and the importance to shift your mindset from 'what if it goes wrong' to 'what if it goes great' because it's all in the mind. Another thing that helped me personally is focusing on the what is in our control, and not worrying about the outcome of it. Let's try to challenge ourselves to face our fears and become a better and more confident version of ourselves 🥂
