The Broken Promises

Promises are worse than lies. You don’t just make them believe, you also make them hope.

A famous quote by American Actress Marilyn Monroe. This quote reminded me a story I have read long back. The story of a beggar and a rich man. One day a rich man while walking through the streets saw a poor old man shivering with cold. Seeing the old man's plight, the rich man paused beside him and informed him he would take a blanket from his bungalow and bring it to him. The old man was so happy and he waited for the rich man to come with the blanket. The rich man on reaching his home was so busy that he completely forgot about the blanket. It was too late in the night and he slept due to the heavy work of the day. The next day the rich man woke up from his sleep remembering the blanket. He immediately took a blanket and went to the old man. But it was too late. The old man died due to severe cold. But a small letter was beside him. The rich man took the letter and it said, “ I had the courage to withstand the cold but the moment you promised to give me a blanket, my courage was taken by hope so I couldn't hold back anymore”. Our promises have more power than we think. It is not as simple as we think. Every promise cost a lot.

Promises are building blocks of many relationships. A broken promise can affect us in many ways. It can affect our friendships, our emotional well being and many more. If you don’t give a promise it’s completely ok. But never let a promise broken. Always remember it will break the other person’s heart also.

Never allow a broken promise to pull you down mentally and emotionally. Instead take it as a stepping stone towards your success. Take everything positively and be confident that you can do everything and you are not dependent on anybody for anything. All the best and keep moving. Don’t forget to keep your beautiful smile on your beautiful face. Have a beautiful and blessed day.
