What if we weren't scared ?

 Heyyy Everyone.

How are you all doing? And most importantly how are your fears doing? I know it is a really weird question to ask. But seriously, have you ever wondered why we get scared of so many things? The other day, I was damn scared of writing an exam.  I was scared of failing. Later while talking to a friend, he told me that he was scared to attend a meeting. What if it doesn’t go well?

And that is when it struck me, we all have countless small fears that hold us back every single day. Some fear exams, some fear meetings, some fear speaking up, some fear interviews, some fear starting something new. But the funny thing is that once the moment passes and everything turns out fine, we forget that we have been so scared of that or we look back and think, ‘was I really scared of that’.  Of course it is not just your problem, we all are in the same boat. Some of us talk about it openly, while others quietly face their fears alone.
But let me ask you something. What if our fear actually comes true? What if I really fail the exam? What if the meeting really doesn’t go well? The answer is really so simple than it seems, ’We start again’. We retry. We prepare again.
To tell this more mathematically, even if things don’t go as planned, we go back to zero, not to negative. There is no minus side in this journey. We never go below where we started. It’s just we move forward this time a little more wiser and stronger.
Among all the fears we have been talking about, I believe the most powerful fear is fear of beginning something new.
What if it doesn’t go well?

What if I fail?

What if my reputation goes down?
These what if’s can go forever like this. If we surround our lives with these what if’s we can never move forward.
There is a famous quote which I love most by G. T. Shedd. “A ship in harbor is safe, but that is not what ships are built for”. We are like those ships, we can stay safe in the harbor, protected from storms and waves. But that is not our purpose. We are meant to sail, to explore, to take risks, and to move forward in life even if water gets rough sometimes. It is ok to fail, It is ok get stuck, it is okay to be confused because that is how we grow. That is how we learn. That is how we move closer to the version we are meant to be.
We won’t know how it goes until we start. We are not astrologers, we can’t predict the future. We need to see it ourselves on the way. The only way for that is to get started. Take your first step.
If I had let fear stop me three years ago, you wouldn’t be reading this blog today. I started despite the fear and that one step led me here to you. Start to know where your step takes you to. Don’t be scared. Don’t overthink. Don’t let fear control your actions. Just start. We will figure out rest on the way. I am hundred percent confident that you are much stronger than your fear. Go on. Keep moving. And don't forget to keep your beautiful smile on your beautiful face. Have a beautiful and blessed day.

  2. Really really well written and loved the qoute. My favourite point is 'it is okay to fail' because if it is okay to fail, there is no need to be afraid of it. And if you are not scared to fail, you have the ability to explore your potential. My personal opinion would be failure is not the opposite of success, it is a stepping stone or a learning for real success.
